Continuing with the trend of big F&B names arriving in Calcutta, Effingut, the popular brewery from Mumbai and Pune is all set to open doors from today onwards. Located on the seventh floor of Magma House (Park Street), this is the first outlet in Eastern India and the biggest in the country till date. Spread across almost 7,500sq ft with 350 seats, various sections and ample moving space, the cocktail bar and pub has a high energy vibe to it. The interiors have been done by interior designer Minnie Bhatt. The chillspot houses many Instaworthy corners that blends edgy, quirky with comfort. “We are delighted to be bringing Effingut from Mumbai to Calcutta! To suit the local palate, the Calcutta pub boasts of a range of appetising dishes and innovative cocktails. While we are opening with the full arsenal of our signature cocktails, food and weekly events, our craft beers are what we are known for and we hope to receive our brewery licence soon. We intend to redefine the city’s pub scene by providing a relaxed space to unwind with no set rules!” said Manu Gulati (inset), founder and chief brewer, Effingut.

The menu is varied too. “It can be categorised as diverse, eclectic and done our way, offering bites that go very well with beer. One can find best of Pan Asian, Indian and Continental cuisines to some of classics that will please a foodie,” said Manu Misra, marketing head, Effingut. Effingut is all about their craft beers, but till they get the brewery licence, sip on the cocktail menu curated by Zac Abbott, head of craft mixology, Effingut. He aims to “go local and take the city’s drinking experience to another level.” From one-of-a-kind equipment to ingredients like oak chips, lapsang souchong tea, housemade kombucha to sous vide coffee, the bar counter deserves a special mention.
